There are so many wonderful goings on here at St Michael's! See below to hear all about it!
THANK YOU!! The Women's Guild Chicken BBQ Friday, Sept 20th was a great success! Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated brownies, promoted the event, and bought dinners. Your participation ensured a wonderful sold-out turn-out! Thank you for supporting St Michael's Women's Guild. All proceeds support our ministries to the parish.
Thank you parishioners of St Michael the Archangel parish, for your generous response to the call for donations of school supplies for CoNSERNS U and Circles of Mercy. A special thanks to young people Cameron and Charlie who with Anele and Ellen sorted by item and packaged into 36 super sized reusable bags. And thanks to Carline, Bob and Sally for delivering to the agencies.
The Pastoral Council is very grateful for the wonderful response to thePoor Box set up earlier this year in the gathering area. Thank you so much for your generosity! With these monies, we are helping those who come to our door needing emergency assistance; following the example of Jesus, who taught us to prioritize love and care for the poor among us.
Members of our Women's Guild collected over 24 cases, (1/2) pallet of bottled water, for Joseph House Outreach services. Water is a huge demand, and at the time, Joseph House had just two cases on hand. A very special thank you to Barry Willard, who delivered the water to the Outreach Services offices. Here is a lovely thank you letter from Sara Dzembo, Director of Outreach services: "I want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of water. Your contribution is invaluable to us and will significantly help Outreach to ensure our community has access to clean drinking water during this critical time. Your support exemplifies a profound commitment to our cause, and we are truly grateful for your help. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve."
A HUGE THANKYOU to all our parishioners for the donations to Catholic Charities Community Maternity Services! We have been hosting this baby shower for over ten years and the agency is very grateful for our support of this ministry.
A huge thank you to LaSalle teacher Ted Deeb and the Cadets of LaSalle Institute, Lou Santabarbara and Regan Murphy for help with mulching the Church Memory Garden! Also, thank you to church garden members Marie Celeste, Sharon Close and Deb Moyer for helping planting annuals and mulching the circular garden and angel garden! See photos at this link to garden photo album.
We are so grateful to the wonderful work of our Bereavement Ministry! Read this heartfelt testimony from Leahy/Bocketti Funeral Home:
April 29, 2024 Dear Reverend Rice, I am a funeral director employed with the Leahy/Bocketti Funer al Homes in Troy. I recently worked a wake and funeral at St. Michael the Archangel Church. These services were all at St. Michael the Archangel Church. The Bereavement group of St. Michaels is a warm and welcoming group of individuals; that made us and the grieving family feel warm and welcomed. They were very attentive to all our possible needs during our 3.5 hour stay, but the basket of water, tissues and cough drops for the family was exactly what most families ask for! As for the coffee and donuts for us (funeral home staff), in your conference room; it made us feel so good, nourished and welcomed!

Pastoral Care members delivered tulips to our parishioners that are shut ins as well as nursing home residents as part of Pastoral Care visits. I think the quote from Mother Theresa expresses how something simple can mean so much. Click here for pictures.
