You already know some of the prayers. You may feel at home in our parish. Perhaps you've wondered what it would mean to become Catholic yourself.

“I'm Christian, but I'm not Catholic.”

If you were baptized in another Christian tradition and are wondering about the Catholic Church, we'd be happy to listen to your story and answer your questions.

“I've never been baptized.”

Whether Christianity is completely new to you or you've been exploring faith for some time, you are welcome to begin here.

“I was baptized Catholic, but I never finished my Sacraments.”

If you never received First Communion or Confirmation, let's talk. The appropriate path can be different for each person.

That's enough. You don't have to decide anything before talking with us.

What Is OCIA?

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the Church's process of accompanying people who are exploring the Catholic faith and discerning whether God may be calling them to become Catholic.

But OCIA isn't simply a series of classes.

It's an opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ more deeply, explore Scripture and prayer, understand the Mass and the Sacraments, learn what Catholics believe and why, and experience life within the Catholic community.

Most importantly, it is a journey of discernment.

Questions are welcome. You aren't expected to know Catholic terminology, understand everything the Church teaches, or arrive with perfect faith.

We begin by listening to your story.

What Happens If I Reach Out?

Nothing scary.

Really.

Reaching out does not register you for OCIA or commit you to becoming Catholic.

Someone from our parish will contact you and arrange a simple conversation.

We'll want to hear about you:

Where are you coming from?

What has brought you to this point?

What questions do you have?

What are you hoping to discover?

We'll explain what the journey can look like and help you determine an appropriate next step.

Then you decide whether you'd like to continue exploring.

What If I'm Not Sure?

Then you're exactly where many people begin.

Faith doesn't always begin with certainty. Sometimes it begins with a question, a longing, an experience, an invitation from someone we trust—or the quiet sense that God may be calling us toward something more.

You are welcome to explore without pretending that you have everything figured out.

There is no pressure to become Catholic.

Already Coming to Mass With Us?

You may have been sitting beside us for months—or even years.

Perhaps your spouse is Catholic. Your children may be Catholic. You might come for Christmas and Easter, attend regularly with someone you love, or already consider St. Jude the Apostle or St. Michael the Archangel part of your community.

What Will I Learn About?

Every person's journey is different, but together we explore questions such as:

Why do Catholics confess their sins to a priest?

What do Catholics believe about Mary and the saints?

What does the Church teach about living as a disciple of Jesus?

You don't need to know the answers before you begin.

Come and See

When Jesus' first disciples wanted to know more about Him, He gave them a simple invitation:

“Come, and you will see.” — John 1:39

We extend that same invitation to you.

You don't need to promise anything.

You don't need to have all the answers.

You don't even need to know whether you want to become Catholic.
