The Family and Friends of Derek Murphy have established the Derek Murphy Memorial Fund, a nonprofit organization. We will be carrying on Derek’s legacy by helping others in need. 

Derek was a Graduate of Columbia High School in 2019, who passed away at the age of 23 in 2024 after a lifelong illness living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. 

It’s undeniable Derek made this world a better and brighter place. He was the type of person you met once in your life and was an inspiration to many. Derek led by example with unwavering kindness, believing so much in others until they believed in themselves making sure others felt his love. He had a keen and witty sense of humor, luminous spirit and a positive attitude that could brighten even the darkest of days. Despite physical limitations, Derek chose to live his life to the fullest. A task that was perfectly paired with his unshakable determination and courage. Throughout Derek’s life he excelled with academics and his lifelong medical challenge. During Derek’s life he accepted and overcame several physical and emotional challenges. Knowing Derek was an honor, but being his friend was a treasure. 

We will be doing a $50 Mega Raffle to raise monies for the fund. All tickets are presale - only 300 tickets are sold. Do not need to be present to win. If all tickets are not sold the prizes will reflect percentages of the total proceeds. Proceeds will benefit the Derek Murphy Memorial Fund.
